Kitten Diaries
Amarula
April 2006
Amarula's 1st Kitten Diary - April 2006 to July
Day 98 - July 15, 2006

Today Mad Max has left me and what an odd departure this was. As you are aware, Mad Max came to our new home with us for a week prior to going to live with his new family and it turned out to be great timing because on the 15th, I was exhibiting Cacao and Toussaint at a cat show and Lee and Susie were also exhibiting Joe Byrne at the same show, so we had made previous arrangements for Mad Max to travel with us to the show, where we met up with Lee and Susie and he was taken straight to his new home as they only live 20 minutes from the show hall. I must admit it was so very difficult for me to hand him over to Lee because in the extra week Max spent with us, he became part of our family and was always being carried around by one family member or another so it was very upsetting to let him go. He is going to have the time of his life though with Lee and Susie because not only are they an amazing kitten family, but they also have another Schimmel baby called Joe, who will be a wonderful playmate for Mad Max. I was unable to take any photos of Max before he left me today as we left home at 5:30am in order to travel to the show and I had already packed the camera in my show bag so I have included 2 photos of Max that were taken by Lee on the first morning in his new home.

This means that we have again come to the end of another kitten diary and what an eventful diary this has been. We have had our great moments, and then our incredibly sad moments when we lost Patriot, but I know that our 3 Mel's are going to have such wonderful lives with their new kitten families and hopefully, they will keep me updated throughout the remainder of their babies' lives. I am going to miss our Mel's as they have been such characters but the time come for them to be with their rightful families. It is times like this when I am constantly reminding myself that these babies are not mine, I am merely their guardian until they are old enough to be with their new families. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of our families for having a Schimmel baby (in some cases 2 babies) and I do hope that your babies will live up to any expectations that you may have. I would also like to thank each of those very kind people who contacted me via telephone and email during that terrible time when we lost Patriot. Your love and support meant so much to us and certainly helped us through our loss. It's now time to prepare for our next kitten diary which will be commencing approximately July 19th as Sambuca is due to give birth around this time.

Day 91 - July 8, 2006
Yet again, another of our children is leaving and today it is Lethal Weapon's special day. I know that Kerry has been looking forward to this day for ages and while it is very sad for me to have to say goodbye to yet another of my children, I know that he is going to bring so much love and joy to Kerry and her family. It is always so hard to see my babies going, one by one but the whole point of breeding is to raise happy, healthy, confident babies who will then give their new families a lifetime of love and joy. I know that Lethal Weapon is going to a fantastic home and he will have playmates there so I am going to try not to worry about him too much. Just like the other babies, he looked so tiny in his carrier and I just hope he will settle down on the long journey home and won't be too stressed out. This leaves me with just our darling Mad Max who is such a bundle of a joy and we are very fortunate in the respect that he will be with us for another week. In fact, he will be moving into our new home with us as he won't be going to his new family until the 15th. In the midst of all the chaos with packing today, I could not find my camera so I was unable to take any photos of Lethal Weapon on his special day so instead, I have posted a couple that were taken by Kerry when he was in his new home.
