Day 82 - June 29, 2006
Entries are going to be very spasmodic during the next week so if an entry doesn't go online for a few days, please don't panic or worry. The reason for this is that the moving van arrives this afternoon and the hard work really begins. From tomorrow onwards, some of us will be driving to the new home with a van load of boxes, while others remain here, feed the children and get the next load of boxes ready. If any of you have moved home, I am sure you will understand just how big an undertaking this is, particularly because of our fur children and the tropical fish. None of the babies are even interested in the fact that half of their familiar home is now totally turned upside down which is such a huge relief for me. They all just get on with their food, their games, and their sleep and it is great that they are not phased at all by the chaos. I'm hoping this bodes well for when they leave me to live with their new families. It's always so scary and the worry is so immense because when they leave here, for the first hour or so I find myself worrying about their journey to their new home, and then I worry about whether or not they are settling in and being fed properly and it really is so ridiculous when you think about it :( Still, they are all mine for at least another week :) There is very little in the way of photos, I just snapped a few after the baby's last meal as they were settling down, tummies fully, eyes sleepy, to have a kitten nap.

Day 81 - June 28, 2006

Still running extremely behind with diary entries but again, at least I managed to get a few photos.

Mad Max really does make me laugh during meal times, not that laughing is something I am keen on doing at this precise point in time because yours truly as managed somehow to crack a couple of ribs and things like laughing cause an awful lot of pain at the moment. This could only happen to me when we're right in the middle of moving home and lots of lifting needs to be done. Anyway, I digress, back to why Mad Max makes me laugh. He's suddenly become extremely possessive over his food and when all 6 babies are gathered around the plate at each meal time, it makes no difference as to what the food is, but he puts one of his front paws on the baby's head that is next to him, he then pushes down on that babies' head, while he eats and growls at the same time so as to deter that baby from taking "his" share of the food. It is so incredibly funny to watch although I am sure the poor baby next to him does not share my amusement. He is going to have quite a large shock if he tries to do this in his new home because I can not see that Joe Byrne will allow that to happen. Braveheart also has an endearing trait now when it comes to eating. Like Max, she is concerned someone will get her share of the food so quite often she will stand in the food, with both her front paws firmly in the middle of the plate and she eats around her paws making sure that everyone else has to eat off the very edge of the plate. She had better be careful because one of these days I can see another baby will have a nibble of her paw thinking it is food. Lethal Weapon, bless him, is the perfect gentleman when it comes to meal times, he is happy to share his food with the rest of the gang and if someone manages to push him out of the way, he just moves to a different side of the plate and carries on eating.

Day 80 - June 27, 2006
Today is just turning into one of those days where we both wished that we had stayed in bed! A thought struck me this morning which concerns all of our babies and their new families. I was going to say that I have no idea how this has happened, but of course I know, it's happened because our minds are full of nothing other than trying to be in our new home within the next 2 weeks. As for what "it" is, well................................"it" is your babies' registration certificates and the problem is that somewhere, between packing and moving, it has totally slipped my mind to send off their registration papers! As we're planning on being the new home (hopefully) within 2 weeks, then I can't send them off now because they will come back here and we won't be here. I can't send them off with the new address because if something goes wrong and we don't end up there in 2 weeks then I still won't get them. What this basically means is that when you collect your babies, your transfer of ownership paper will not be available, so I have now amended the kitten sales agreements to state that as soon as I receive them back, they will be forwarded to you all in the post. Then, when the papers do come back, you will also be sent a new pedigree certificate showing your babies' registration number. I am just relieved that I didn't forget to vaccinate them also!!! On Monday of next week, your fur children will be having their last set of kitten vaccinations and their last health examination by our vet and naturally, having just looked at the calendar, I realised that I have made a note of the vet appointment but forgot to write down the time. I tell you, I will be very pleased once we have moved home and the chaos is over with! One bonus for today is at least I managed to get some photographs in the entry. Admittedly they are not great photos, nor are they particularly exciting photos, but at least you can actually see your children :)

Day 79 - June 26, 2006
There are still no photos unfortunately, however I am going to try really hard tomorrow to invent some more hours in the day so that I can at least get a couple of photos in the diaries before you forget what your children look like. Our Mel's are doing very well and just like yesterday, they have spent today trying to help us pack. By about 3pm I found a solution to this little problem. I had turned the central heating on as it is freezing cold today and when they babies were starting to settle down a bit, I put Braveheart and Lethal Weapon on the cat bed in the back room in front of the radiator. I then put Mad Max there as well and within minutes it had worked. The babies were thrilled to bits with the heat from the radiator so they had a few games on the bed and then settled down for a nap. Naturally, Mad Max did still insist that he should be helping but after 10 minutes of returning him to the bed, he finally took the hint and slept with everyone else.

Day 78 - June 25, 2006
Yet again, not really much of an entry at all, and again no photos I'm afraid. Our entire day has been spent packing even more boxes, sorting out the garage as well as packing the bedrooms so I've not really had a moment spare. You can no doubt guess that throughout all of our packing we have the constant interruptions in the form of 6 furry children who insist on "helping" us all to pack. No matter how many times I explained to them that if they weren't careful, they would find themselves taped up on the inside of the boxes, they paid no attention at all and continued to jump in the open cardboard boxes that we have been trying to pack. Then of course, as you remove the babies from the boxes, you obviously have to give them cuddles and have chats with them because they are so irresistible. Then before you know it, another 20 minutes has passed and you still haven't packed anything.

Day 77 - June 24, 2006
Entries (for what they are worth at the moment!) are incredibly behind with no photos and this could very well set the tone for the next few weeks unfortunately due to the house move. We are just up to our eyeballs in arrangements, phone calls and packing and obviously all the normal daily things have to be done as well. Linda and Peter came to visit Salt and Braveheart today, and Lee and Susie came to visit Mad Max and it was really lovely to see our kitten families again. This is actually the last kitten visits we will be able to manage as our weekends, and week days are totally tied up now with the move. Fortunately the babies will be going home soon with their lovely new families so at least it's really only one visit that is being missed out on. Except of course for Lee and Susie as our darling Max is remaining with us for one extra week which will be wonderful because the home gets so incredibly lonely when the children leave us.
