Kitten Diaries
Amaretto
August 2007
Amaretto's 5th Kitten Diary - August 2007 to November 2007
Litter out of Simoneeze Chinchaku X Schimmel Stripe It Lucky
Day 48 - October 12, 2007
The top of the scratch post in the kitten room has become a favourite sleeping place for our Ray J's now and it's not unusual to see at least 2 of them in there every time I am in the kitten room. I'm having one of those "lack of motivation days" where I really can not think of a darn thing to write about in any of the diary entries. I am rather hoping that our kitten families will be more interested in the photos than the text :)

Day 47 - October 11, 2007
Our Ray J's are loving their newfound freedom and have been spending as much time out of their kitten room as they have in there. Despite Amaretto chasing them in the bathroom, trying to herd them back into the kitten room, none of the babies were interested in doing what their mum said and they have been having such a great time exploring. Barry was the baby who surprised me the most because within the first 24 hours of being given "freedom", she was down the stairs like a shot and straight through the little kitten door into the downstairs part of the home. I don't even know how she managed the stairs as this was the first time she had ever encountered them. None of the Ray J's have been phased by the Nuts and Detectives, not even when they spent the first 24 hours growling at the younger babies and the Ray J's just carried on exploring, totally oblivious to the older babies. It would appear that they all have their fathers' laid back approach to life.

Day 45 - October 9, 2007

I am extremely behind in kitten diaries as you can tell and there are no photos for today's entries. Over the weekend, Graham caught this awful flu that is going around, by yesterday morning I had the same thing, although I am recovering much quicker so by the time I did the floors and the usual cat chores yesterday I had run out of energy to do any kitten diaries. Tomorrow's diaries will have photos as per normal though.

I am going to start off today's kitten diary entry with our Ray J's current weights. It's actually been ages since I have shared their weights with you all and as you can see by the table below, there is such a varying difference in our babies' weights.

Baby
Colour
Current Weight
Ray
Brown Oriental Spotted Tabby
463g
Jonesy
Cinnamon Oriental Spotted Tabby
694g
Barry
Chocolate Oriental Spotted Tabby
548g

Actually, I can't remember the last time we had a litter where there was such large gaps between the weights of each baby and Jonesy is most definitely going to be an extremely large boy as is evident by his current weight. Ray on the other hand will be a very slender, elegant girl, and Barry is in the middle at the moment. I am happy with these current weights though and all 3 of our Ray J's are doing extremely well. Amaretto is looking incredibly thin at the moment, something that always happens when her babies are around this age. She is such an excellent mum, but when the babies start to mature, she continues to feed them and run around after them and it does take it's toll on her, particularly as she is such a small girl herself.

Day 42/43 - October 6/7, 2007
It's been a hectic weekend as we have had a kitten family visit both days so I ended up combining yesterday and today's diary just to save a bit of time :). It was lovely to meet Amy and Alex yesterday and even though the majority of the babies were asleep during their visit, Ray, who was the fur child they had come to visit, was awake and playing and in fine form. Of course all 3 of our Ray J's are absolutely adorable which they proved to Amy and Alex when they were all piled on top of each other and feeding from the mum's.
