Amaretto's 3rd Kitten Diary - July 2005 to October 2005
Day 62 - September 25, 2005
Whispa had some lovely cuddles today with Caroline her new owner. When Caroline arrived, the babies were all asleep but as soon as I picked up Whispa to give to Caroline, she woke up and had some lovely games and she also showed Caroline just how well her baby teeth were coming along! All of our Chocolate Bars are doing really well and I can't believe that tomorrow they will be 9 weeks of age! The time is really going way too quickly now for me and I guess that I need to look at booking them into my vets for vaccination towards the end of the week.

Day 61 - September 24, 2005
As stated in the other diaries, today's entries are very short and very late as I was busy all day yesterday. Buttons & Whispa did not know what to make of our young adult cats who were in and out of the room yesterday. Tia Lusso was sitting on the base of the cat stand while the Chocolate Bars were sitting on the bed and on the tub, just peering down her, wondering who she was and what she wanted. Crunchie thought she was there to play with as he caught her tail swishing about so he made the mistake of pouncing on it, only to get a smack in the head for his troubles. All of our Chocolate Bars had a great time though exploring the rest of the house as the back room door was left open all afternoon. It did make finding them rather difficult though when it was time for the dinner meal as there were babies in different parts of the downstairs area.

Day 60 - September 23, 2005
The photos are all rather boring and very similar today as we are all tired after yesterday's exciting event called the Schimmel Cats Photo Shoot. All of our babies have been sleeping for most of the morning which means that by this afternoon they will be running around, driving me crazy. Whispa has decided that she is going to be very helpful around the house as when I was sweeping the floor this morning, she kept getting in the way of the broom and trying to catch the bristles. Even when I tried to sweep her out the way she wasn't bothered at all and continued to play. I remember the days when the babies were all small enough to put in one carrier and up out of the way while I got on with the job of sweeping and mopping but it doesn't work that way any more. For some reason though as soon as I've finished mopping, Buttons & Twix are the first off their beds, onto the floor to sniff it all over, obviously checking whether or not I've done a good job.

Day 59 - September 22, 2005
Apologies to Brad, Debbie, Fred and Jacob as I somehow did not get a single photo at all of Twix today :( It's a fairly busy day today as we had something happening this morning that was rather time consuming so as a result there's not really much in the way of photos unfortunately. Our babies all had quite a long play session this morning and then slept for at least 3 hours which allowed me to get some bits and pieces done. The Chocolate Bars are no longer as keen on the moist food now because when I put the plates down, quite often they will sniff the food, turn around and walk straight over to the bowl with the kitten biscuits in it and start chomping on those instead which I'm really pleased about. I was told yesterday afternoon by our daughter that "Twix was broken" which was rather an odd statement to make. When asked what she meant, she replied that she had picked him up to cuddle him and he refused to purr for her, in which case, she decided he was "broken". My reply to that was "well the always purr for me so if he is broken then you broke him". She gave Twix to me, and yes within minutes he was purring away. She then picked up Whispa instead and promptly declared that she was also broken. In the end she gave up trying to get the babies to purr for her and finished the washing up instead! Actually, now that I think about it, she was probably using the Chocolate Bars as a stalling tactic to delay the kitchen duties.

Day 58 - September 21, 2005

These are not particularly long entries and the majority of the photos are all just "general" photos as I seem to be quite behind on everything today.

All of the babies have been in feisty moods today, but none more so than the Chocolate Bars (& Cute T but that goes without saying). Every time the Chocolate Bars have been awake they have been pouncing, attacking, chasing, not just each other, but also their little toy catnip mice, as well as their new spiders which arrived in the post from our friend Donna. Whispa & Buttons are extremely territorial when it comes to the toys and if they have one of them, they will growl while they play with it so that none of the other babies will come near them and take their toy. Twix's favourite toy now is the ball in the circular disc which goes around and around and he sits in there for ages, batting at it and trying to catch it. Crunchie is just a sweetheart and he will play with anyone and any toy that happens to be near him. I think he is definitely going to be a Mummy's Boy.

Day 57 - September 20, 2005
I think that Whispa and Buttons should have been named Columbus and Cook! They are just into everything and despite the fact that there isn't an inch left of unexplored space in the room, they still spend quite a bit of their waking time searching for that elusive treasure. Twix spends a lot of his waking time showing off for all the other babies and oddly enough, when he's do his "party tricks", some of our other babies actually sit there admiring his antics almost as if he has his own little groupies. He has been swinging from the radiator bed, the scratch post, having a great time until he fell off the bed (see below photos) onto the base of the cat stand looking rather silly while everyone else looked on and laughed at him.

Day 56 - September 19, 2005
Eight weeks of age now and I really don't know what to say actually. I had such fun with the babies last night, particularly the Chocolate Bars. I came down for the last feed of the night at about 11:45pm and after the meal the babies were in an incredibly playful mood, especially Twix. He was lying sprawled out on top of the tub, trying to catch my fingers and purring and rolling around while I ticked his tummy. He also loves having his ears played with. All of our Chocolate Bars are doing so well and one thing I've noticed is that Whispa and Buttons are quite often playing chase and wrestling together which each other, much more so than with anyone else. Crunchie and Twix on the other hand will play with anyone who happens to be next to them. They love their little catnip mice, and I'm amazed that they've had them for almost a week now and we still have 3 of them.
