Day 55 - September 28, 2004
Carol is really going to have her hands full with Snugglepot. He is definitely the naughtiest baby. I reckon it must be a "guy" thing as I remember saying the same thing about Tia's last litter in regards to Danny. Snugglepot has spent a lot of the day on top of my desk chewing my wall calendar, trying to pull off all the paper I currently have thumb tacked on the wall and everything on my wall now has "Snugglepot Teeth Marks". The problem is of course that you can't get cranky with him because he's having so much fun. Thank goodness Banksia Man and Cuddlepie are not quite as mischievous although they both certainly do have their moments! Indeed, Banksia Man has spent the last half an hour avidly chasing her sister and chewing on whatever limb she happens to reach first. As usual, all three babies have been sitting on my shoulder and chewing my ears and my hair. I have so many teeth and claw marks in me at the moment that I'm surprised whenever I drink my coffee it doesn't come spurting out all the little holes! Having said all that................................I'd be lost without them :) Cuddlepie made me giggle today when she was chasing her brother through the back room when she jumped up in the air to (presumably) pounce on him, however, she landed in a plate full of wet cat food, much to her disgust. As sweet as these babies are, there are times when I think they're not particularly very bright!

Day 54 - September 27, 2004
The Gumnuts have been very quiet this morning, but as it's rather cold, that's no surprise. They've spent a good part of the morning sleeping in their little box near the radiator, although for an hour or so, Banksia Man was sleeping up on my shoulder which was really lovely. Our little Gumnuts no longer have any "kitten/milk mixture" with their wet meals, they now just eat the wet food on it's own. I'm actually a bit sad about that because I used to enjoy making up their mixtures but at least now I can have my coffee flasks back for a while! (for those who don't know, I always keep my made up kitten mixture in our 2 coffee flasks in the fridge) At lunch time, my little terrors woke up and it wasn't long before I was wishing they had remained asleep. They were into absolutely everything and have been tearing around like maniacs. I now have puncture wounds on my neck, legs and arms from where they are using me as a climbing aid. I have actually written part of this diary with Snugglepot on my left shoulder, Banksia Man on my right shoulder and Cuddlepie swinging from my legs. I did get a small amount of revenge though when Snugglepot fell off the worktop, straight into the wastepaper bin. His pride and ego were extremely hurt and I guess it didn't help that I laughed at him (for rather a long time).

Day 53 - September 26, 2004
It's been a rather hectic weekend which is why there are no photos for today and it's a rather short entry. The Gumnuts had a lovely visit from Cuddlepie's new owner today. It was lovely to see Sam and Dean again and they were lucky enough to be here at a time when the babies were awake so not only did they get some cuddles, they also were able to watch them play and act like little hooligans. Banksia has now also been visited by her new kitten family, Saul & Monika who also own Mia who is a baby from Tia Maria's last litter. This only leaves darling Snugglepot who will hopefully be visited soon by his new owner, Carol.

Day 52 - September 25, 2004
This morning I was amazed as I walked through the dining room to see little Banksia Man sitting on the dining table eating the adult dry food. I am presuming that she must have scrambled her way up onto the chair to reach the table (either that or she's been climbing up the tablecloth as the Potters used to do!). She was rather pleased with her efforts though and was looking extremely smug. I also now know that the Gumnuts can all manoeuvre the stairs very well as they have spent some time today playing chase in the upstairs hallway while Amaretto sat on the cat stand watching them from above. She's still being such an incredibly good mum. I learnt at lunch time today what Cuddlepie's method of getting onto the table was. She takes a running jump onto the chair, manages to reach it by the tips of her claws, digs them in and then scrambles onto the chair and from there she jumps up onto the table. They had an awful lot of fun on there today, playing with Sambuca and playing with Tia's beanie toy.

Day 51 - September 24, 2004
I must start off by saying thanks to hubby who let me sleep in this morning while he took care of everything. It had been such an incredibly worrying day yesterday with Tia Maria and by the time I went to bed last night I was so very shattered but also so relieved and I didn't actually wake up until about 9am. There's been nothing out of the ordinary in regards to the Gumnuts today. They've all been their usual selves. Today though, they have spent more time in the main part of the house than usual. Normally, even though they wander about and play in the house, the majority of their day is spent here in the back room with me so it was really nice today to see them relying far less on me and creating havoc out there. It's not a particularly long entry today as I'm still getting over the stress from yesterday and I have quite a lot to think about now in regards to a future mating and I really don't think I'm thinking straight when it comes to the entry. Hopefully though, by including the photos below, you will all forgive me for not really writing very much :)

Day 50 - September 23, 2004
Our little Gumnuts have been lunatics today, playing chase, leaping off everything and generally doing what babies do. They have so much energy when they are awake that it's no wonder Amaretto is having longer and longer spells away from them. I do think though that they are simply the most happy, adorable litter that I've had and I know that parting with them, when the time comes, is not going to be easy. At the time of writing this entry, I have Snugglepot up on my shoulder, Banksia Man and Cuddlepie are playing together in the little kitten activity post/box.

Day 49 - September 22, 2004 (7 weeks old today!)
Daddy came downstairs this morning to find that the Gumnuts were sleeping on one of his best jumpers and someone was in extremely big trouble over it.....................ME!! I had left the jumper on one of the chairs in the back room and the babies loved it and obviously spent the night sleeping curled up in it. They now have more suitable "kitten bedding" on the chair which they also are very happy with. The Gumnuts are having a rather noisy day today as we have some people in the back yard finally sorting out the jungle once and for all! They aren't phased though by any of the comings and goings of the gardeners and have just carried on with their normal daily activities which is: eating, sleeping, going to the toilet, and creating havoc. I can't actually believe that my little ones are now 7 weeks old. As like every other litter, the time is simply flying by. Banksia Man has had a lot of fun today rolling around inside the wastepaper bin. She's so funny when she climbs in there and it wasn't long before she was joined by Cuddlepie who didn't hesitate to climb in and make the bin roll around even more. Snugglepot wasn't interested as she was having too much fun playing "stalk" with Hermione.
