Amaretto's 1st Kitten Diary - August 2004 to November 2004
Day 83 - October 26, 2004
Am finding it slightly difficult to type this entry as my dear Cacao is sitting on my lap expecting lots of cuddles so I have to keep stopping after every few words to keep her happy. Well we are at the 2nd day of bedroom redecorating and as a result haven't spent a great deal of time with the little ones. I've also been kept busy monitoring the stud house as Ice is currently having a honeymoon with his very pretty new girlfriend. The Gumnuts have proved to us today that they still prefer cardboard boxes to playing with normal toys. We've had a box sitting in the back room for the last day or so now and it was really funny because Snugglepot and Cuddlepie were in the box playing like lunatics while Banksia was sitting on my chair and trying to figure out exactly how they got into the box in the first place. Next thing you know, Banksia climbs right up the back of my chair and takes a flying leap straight into the box and lands directly on Snugglepot's head! Poor little Snugglepot wasn't particularly happy however Banksia was looking rather pleased with herself.

Day 82 - October 25, 2004
It was a very early start for our little ones this morning as everyone in the house had to be up early to start the decorating and I'm pleased that by 11am the walls were all painted, nearly dry and just needed a second coat. The Gumnuts haven't been out in the cat run lately as this wind is really putting them off. Most of their days are spent either on the dining table chairs, or running around in the loungeroom. It's been a wee bit scary for them I think as Tia Maria is finally back in general population after being on her own for a full month and it's taking a little while for her to settle back into the household and needless to say she is not particularly enamoured of the Gumnuts. I was about to say that the babies have been very well behaved today, however I remembered that I was actually upstairs in Mo's room for a lot of the day on and off so chances are, they could have been little terrors and I haven't actually seen them in action.

Day 81 - October 24, 2004
Diary entries and photos will be few and far between over the next couple of days. We spent a lot of today at B&Q as starting early tomorrow morning we will be totally redecorating our daughter's bedroom. I'm so pleased that our little ones are just like the rest of the family cats now in the respect that they have much more interest in being with their mum and the older cats in whichever part of the room they are in. So in other words, they aren't totally reliant on me any more. While it's not so nice that I'm not needed as much as I used to be, it is wonderful to see them integrated with the rest of the household so very well. Mind you, no one in the house is able to walk past the Gumnuts at all without stopping to chat with them and stroke them, or pick them up for cuddles because as soon as they see any of us, they look up at us, and it's totally impossible to resist their little faces.

Day 80 - October 23, 2004
Another day of not really having an entry as yesterday we went to Wolverhampton to watch QPR which mean we were out for the majority of the day and it was a very long day. You could almost see the look of relief on the Gumnut's faces when we eventually arrived home as I think they thought they had been abandoned :)

Day 79 - October 22, 2004
I made the mistake of taking most of today's photos while the Gumnuts were busy grooming themselves so there's not really any decent photos of them at all. It is lovely though to watch their grooming sessions because each baby is so very particular that they don't miss a single area and there is still the odd occasion when they are grooming "those parts" when they lean over too far and end up rolling over. I always love the look of surprise on their little faces when this happens. The Gumnut's new kitten families will be pleased to know that I finally got around to sending off their registration papers today. Now whether they'll be back with me or not by the time the babies are collected could be anyone's guess. The little ones have been incredibly sweet today and very demanding of cuddles. I can't remember a single day when one of them hasn't been mischievous at all so this is a first.

Day 78 - October 21, 2004
For twenty minutes now I have had a blank entry in front of me and I simply can not think of a single darn thing to write. It's not that the Gumnuts are boring, far from it. More to the point that I have a total and utter mind blank. It doesn't help either that Drambuie is constantly jumping onto my lap for lots of cuddles as she's in an extremely clingy mood and has been for the last couple of days. The little ones have been slightly restless today in the respect that they don't know which room they really want to be in. As a result they've spent some time creating havoc in the upstairs hallway, the bathroom, the lounge room and out here in the back room with me. I'm sure they all think that Sambuca is there big sister now because is constantly playing with them, or "disciplining" them, or sleeping with them. Poor Cuddlepie nearly ended up with a screwdriver on her head because hubby and I were putting a lock on the kitten room door today (don't ask!) when the screwdriver fell off the banister where it was resting, and landed a few centimetres from Cuddlepie who is sitting on the stair watching us. She got a rather large fright and tore up the stairs into the bathroom. After that, we rested the tools elsewhere and the Gumnuts were inclined to stay out of our way until we'd finished. If I were to really think long and hard about the last few days, Banksia is the only baby to have remained totally out of any mischief whereas Snugglepot & Cuddlepie seem duty bound to cause trouble. I can't believe that in just 2 short weeks my babies will be creating havoc in their new homes and not mine.
Day 77 - October 20, 2004
Well our Gumnuts are 11 weeks old today and are progressing beautifully. They've been having a few naughty spells today, trying to constantly trip me up, chewing each other's limbs, and Cuddlepie still won't let me get the food out of her hair :( I did tell her that it can't still be there when Sam and Dean pick her up or they won't be very happy but she assured me it would be long gone by then. I spoke too soon yesterday about none of the Gumnuts swinging on the table rug because sure enough I caught Snugglepot at it this morning, having a lovely time swinging back and forth.
